Stephen M. Gyurisin is a geographer and planner with experiences in the public planning and administration sector; the community development, consulting civil engineering and mapping fields; as well as the construction and development industry.
Stephen M. Gyurisin has worked as Director of the I-81 Corridor with the Acquisition, Planning and Development Division with one of Virginia’s largest privately held real estate development companies; as the Eastern Division Director of Marketing and Strategic Planning for a top 500 engineering firm based in West Virginia; as a business development and pre-construction representative of a major regional construction firm; as Deputy Director of Planning and Development for Frederick County, Virginia; and, as Regional Manager for a Richmond, VA-based map consulting firm. He has been a town manager and has worked as a regional planner in both Virginia and New York. While with his recent positions he was involved with strategic site selection planning and development decisions of clients seeking to locate or develop their business. His early career planning achievements include identification of the need for an Urban Development Area (UDA) as a comprehensive planning tool to manage growth and the adoption of performance based zoning to enhance design standards. Equally, he is pleased to have been part of the team to identify sites for companies that located along I-81 and continue operations today. He has worked for various municipal governments and regional agencies in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia as well as private sector companies.
As an experienced planner and geographer, Stephen M. Gyurisin has a strong track record of carefully identifying client’s site selection needs coupled with a complete time oriented due diligence strategy necessary for a successful implementation of a new start-up operation, franchise re-use or relocation. He continues to refine his project planning and client scoping techniques using a “Quick Entitlement Strategy” and the latest GIS mapping data. His firm, Advance Planning Associates, LC is focused on objective site selection service that couples client’s needs with today’s Geographic Information System techniques to identify tactics and sites for acquisition.
